Yr 3 and 4 - Rocks, Soils and Fossils

There are so many reasons why you should book this workshop for your children. Firstly, there is the humor! Who says rocks are boring! We absolutely love rocks, and we will 100% guarantee that your children will do too by the end of this day. Throughout the day we will have many smiles and a lot of laughing as we explore deep beneath our feet to the rocks in space. Mostly hands-on experiments and models, but also a good degree of incredible images and explanations. The activities include the following: - Using electronic microscopes to examine rocks, minerals, soils and fossils - Testing properties of rocks - Modelling the formation of different rock types; sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous - Making fossils to show how real fossils are formed - Modelling the effects of plate tectonics; tsunamis, mountains, earthquakes and volcanoes - 'Travelling' deep underground - Looking at rocks and rocky planets outside of Earth
